The beauty of every human race
is held there within her face
When she dances she spins
the pinwheels of passion
But lovelier still
is her compassion
for the creatures of
this whirling Earth
for the creatures of
this aching Earth

Very nice poem.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was Gwendolyn Brooks, the Pulitzer Prize-winning African American poet, who said in one of her poems that one day we will all be "tea-colored."
She wrote that maybe 60 years ago and slowly she is being proved right.
Thank you for the comment; however, I think it would be a tragedy if the bio-diversity or uniqueness of life is lost. As far as tea goes, I'm glad there are many different varities of it out there too. Pulitzer Prizes don't impress me either; just like Nobel Peace Prizes, they're often given out for reasons more political than anything else. Interesting comment though. And you've just joined a very select club here of people who actually comment on poems, Mr. Mahoney, so thanks again.
