He wondered what birds dreamed of
Since they already had the gift of flight
As he thought about the divorced mother
Who gave birth to an autistic son
And the man who fell madly in love
With a woman addicted to heroin
While the TV showed how terrorists
Forced children to watch beheadings
And as he watched through his window
A spider build an intricate web
He decided they dreamed of nothing
They dreamed of nothing at all
