I only dove in
because you promised
to catch me.
Now I’m swimming
with shadows, reflections,
and mirages in the dark.
Your sky was once scarlet,
but your water was frigid.
Your lies ran deep to the core,
but your love was a shallow gesture.
I only laughed
because it helped
to tame the madness.
Now I’m dancing
with chaos, despair,
and delusions to the nth.
Your glass was once full,
but my lust was insatiable.
Your stain ran red from a sieve,
but my heart was the vein left empty.
